By Capt. Alan Caine
I just wanted to send out a quick report on Louisiana.
I made it here late last week and the fishing has been good. We had one very windy day, which was tough, but the other four days offered many shots at big redfish, 20-pounds or more, as well as countless opportunities at fish under 15-pounds.. We have been catching them on fly and light tackle spinning gear in shallow water, sometimes so shallow their backs were exposed.
There are also lots of big Jack Crevalle and black drum around The jacks will crush anything you throw to them, and will be around a few more weeks before leaving the shallow marsh areas. The black drum require a little more subtle presentation but will gladly eat a well-placed shrimp fly.
I have some great dates still open for redfish in November and December. Let me know if you have any questions or are interested in coming down to experience the “best red-fishery in the world.”
November: 1,2,5,7,15
December: 16,17,18,19,20
