We were having an open house for neighbors and ham was on our menu. While shuffling through the food aisles at Sam’s Club, Nancy saw a “carver ham.†No bones, no spiral cuts, just a boneless, pre-cooked ham and it looked easy to carve. We bought it. I sliced it thinly and we stacked it on Hawaiian rolls. It was a delicious and a huge hit.
I can’t remember ever buying a “carver ham†before, but I guarantee you I’ll be buying more in the future.
I believe it was less than $20 and weighed about 4 1/2 pounds. Absolutely no waste and a nice flavor. Officially, it was a Member’s Markâ„¢ Boneless Carver Ham – hassle free, easy carve, applewood smoked and juicy. These cuts are great values, especially at Sam’s, but I noticed that Food Lion and others sells carver hams.
To heat, put it in a 275 oven, wrap in foil and warm for 15 minutes a pound. We didn’t warm ours; we just sliced it and ate it, and it was excellent.
I’m now thinking, why buy a huge bone-in shank ham with the slicing dilemma when you can buy a carver ham that tastes this good and is so easy to serve.
I heartily recommend these hams when it comes to entertaining, or just for a family meal at home.
