They should hire me to be their spokesman, Aldi’s, that is. I am a non-stop preacher of the Aldi gospel of great prices. I am also a frequent visitor and shopper at the convenient store in Albemarle Square. Aldi’s, I believe, has better prices that Wal-Mart and they simply crush Kroger’s. They also have great service and extremely friendly personnel – which makes shopping there a more enjoyable experience.
I know this is hard to do, but recently I lost a ham at Aldi’s. I’m not sure how it happened, but when I came home the ham which I bought was missing. I had left it at the store. When you buy a lot of groceries at Aldi’s, you go to the front tables and bag your own groceries from the cart. I bagged everything but the ham, it seems, and must have left it on the shelf or in the cart.
Sheepishly, I returned to the store and explained my dilemma. The store manager remembered finding the ham and took it back to the refrigerated bin.
“Was this the one?” she asked.
Yep. $13.95. That was it.
Not only do they have good prices and great people, Aldi’s also has many products that are unique and delicious. Two of my favorites are their Thick Sliced Bacon and their Country Sausage.
Bacon prices have gone crazy at most stores, but Aldi’s sells their Appleton Farms Thick Sliced Bacon for $4.29 a pound, not just 12-oz. and I think it’s as good as Wright’s Bacon. They also sell Appleton Farms Premium Pork Sausage (it is delicious) for just $2.55 a pound. I actually prefer this sausage to Gunnoe’s, and I like Gunnoe’s.
If you are not a shopper at Aldi’s, you need to be. Go in one day, take your time and look around. Everything is priced well, and you will be most surprised and pleased at their quality.
