One of the best parties in all of Charlottesville is coming up. On Thursday, May 4, golfers of all shapes and sizes will assemble to tee it up at the 19th Bill Howard Golf Tournament. The Illumination Gala takes place the following evening. Both events are first class.
I played in the tournament three years back and took my wife Nancy to the Gala the next evening. We had a blast.
At the golf tournament held at Birdwood, each entrant received a goody bag loaded with prizes and gifts, including golf balls, golf jackets, clothing, trinkets and gift certificates. At the fourth hole we enjoyed Bloody Marys.
At the Gala, Nancy and I won several nice prizes and spent very little. The dinner, appetizers and drinks were superb and Big Ray and the Kool Kats were at the top of their game.
The Golf Tournament, again held at Birdwood, has two shotgun starts at 9 am and again at 1 pm. A Goody Bag comes with the entry fee, plus beer, water and Pepsi products on the course, along with a Hole In One Contest, which could win a trip to Pebble Beach, CA. Lunch will be catered by Trinity Irish pub.
The Gala will be held at the Boar’s Head Pavilion on Friday May 5 from 6 to 11 pm. There will be cocktails, appetizers, dinner and dancing. It is really a fun night.
The Team Fee to play is $1,200. An individual player can sign up for $300. Two tickets to the Gala come with each golfing package.
