The Galley Restaurant has been around for quite a while. I ate there with my old friend Bill Trevillian about 30 years ago. Since then, it has changed hands several times and even closed down for a while. But it’s back up and running and is – in my opinion – Deltaville’s premiere restaurant. We have eaten there each time we visit Deltaville or Gloucester and have never been disappointed. It’s a “come as you are” place and they know how to cook and prepare seafood.
We had our usual favorite entrees – Fried Oysters and Fried Flounder platters – and they were just right. Crispy, juicy, and perfectly cooked and seasoned.
I was also impressed buy the variety of their side dishes. I had Cucumbers and Onions and some delicious Potato Salad, a nice change of pace from a house salad and French fries. Our service was perfect. Our server greeted us immediately and brought us drinks. Then, she patiently waited until we were ready to order.
The Galley is obviously where the locals gather at Happy Hour. It is generally packed, so reservations come in handy. The Galley is located at 16236 General Puller Hwy. in the heart of Deltaville. Call them at (804) 776-1019 for information or reservations.
