A restaurant I omitted in a recent beach issue was Tale of The Whale. We had eaten there many years ago, but not in the last 10 or 12. Someone mentioned it and we ate there on our final night at Nags Head.
It was excellent. Good service and great food.
The Tale of the Whale Restaurant is the legacy of Don Bibey, who opened his restaurant in 1980 with his wife Carole. Their mission was simple: To serve good food in ample portions with superior service in a comfortable setting.
They chose the name Tale of the Whale because of their interest in whale conservation and to support the gentle giants of the sea.
There is no whale on the menu, but they offer a whale of a choice in the freshest of seafoods, straight from the docks.
Nancy and I had fried shrimp and flounder, both cooked perfectly. You’ll never leave this restaurant hungry. The portions are more than ample.
Tale of the Whale is at a beautiful setting with magnificent sunsets on the waterfront along the Manteo Causeway. It’s one of the few restaurants in Nags Head with white linens on the table – a touch of class, I thought. We’ll be back.
By the way, if you go to their web site you can print off a 10% off entire check coupon. An excellent deal!
