Nancy likes to can things. Really. She enjoys it and is pretty good at preserving stuff. She
makes dynamite jelly and preserves and cans peppers, pickles and all kinds of fruits and vegetables.
A couple years ago, I gave her an electric canning outfit that preheats the water and canning supplies automatically, and drains easily. She loved it. This past Mother’s Day, I took a chance and gave her an Electric Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer Kit. Figuring if we just had a few things to can or seal, it would do the job. She loved it, too, and just finished canning and sealing two jars of pickled beets from her small garden,
A Food Saver is one of my most valuable kitchen assets. It vacuum seals things in plastic bags for freezing or for use at a later date. It saves tons of money on wasted leftovers. The Electric Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer works the same way, except it uses jars instead of plastic bags. Some things get smashed with a Food Saver, but not in Mason Jars.
This is a truly neat product for small canning and preserving chores.
It fits both wide and regular mouth Mason Jars. It uses a double layer silicone sealing rings and it gets the job done in seconds – 45, to be exact. Simply put a Mason Jar in the sealer for 45 seconds and it is vacuum sealed. It is battery powered and rechargeable.
Canning season is coming up. Keep this unique tool in mind. It costs about $30 in stores or through Amazon.
It’s been a big hit at our house.
