We had a very pleasant dining experience last week. Nancy and I decided to go to our usual last-minute restaurant – Bonefish Grill – where we sit at the bar, get great service and often order the same-old, same-old. We love their Kobe Beef-type burgers and their Fish & Chips, but this time Nancy surprised me and ordered the Crab-Crusted Cobia and was it ever good.
You don’t see cobia on menus very often. I suppose there is a commercial fishery for them, but they are rare offerings. Cobia is one of the best eating fish in the ocean. Bonefish Grill describes cobia as “the richest, most buttery and delectable premium white fish, with its mild flavor and firm texture, it’s a ‘super fish’ – a nutritional powerhouse naturally high in protein and rich in Omega-3.”
The dish was rich and cooked perfectly, nice and moist, with a delicious sauce. Nancy couldn’t eat it all, but I gladly polished off the leftovers.
That night, we split a tray of Bang-Bang Shrimp and I ordered dinner from the appetizer menu – two Maryland Crab Cakes. For a salad I ate the greens beneath the Bang-Bang dish. I love that sauce.
I’m not sure if the Crab Crusted Cobia was a special or a regular on the Bonefish Grill menu. But may I recommend it if you are ever at Bonefish and want a truly delightful entrée?
