It is estimated that Americans spend over $41 billion (with a “b”) dollars each year on birding, and I do my share to keep keeping that lofty number in the stratosphere. I spend a ton for birdseed, bird feeders, and birding supplies. But it’s a hobby, sort of, that I truly enjoy.
Nonetheless, it’s important to get the most for your money and in my book, the absolute best value in birdseed is the Supreme Blend from Sam’s Club.
It previously sold at $21.95 but with freight expenses on the increase, the 40-pound bags now cost $26.95, but it’s still a “supreme” value.
The blend includes premium sunflower seeds, fruit, nuts, and other small seeds like millet and safflower seeds. The blend contains absolutely no filler.
It attracts a wide variety of birds, and small animals like chipmunks and squirrels also enjoy the variety. Never buy bird seed with milo, by the way, an inexpensive filler. Few other backyard birds other than doves will eat the large reddish seed also known as sorghum. It’s largely a waste and attracts mice and rats.
The only downside to the Supreme Blend is that it comes in heavy, bulky 40-pound bags, but it is nonetheless the best value on the market.
