I was in Kroger’s, and we were low on butter. But have you seen the recent prices of butter? While eggs have finally come down to respectable prices, butter has shot up.
I think Kroger’s had their brand of butter at $4.49 a pound. That’s $1.12 a stick! But then I saw another counter display of butter that was $3-something a pound, but only if you had a digital coupon and the Kroger card.
Digital coupon! Why should I have togo online and print out a digital coupon to get a reasonable price on anything. I put the butter back in the case and went to Aldi’s. Their butter (quite good, by the way) was $2.83 with no coupons whatsoever.
Grocery stores have to make money. Their operating costs are up, labor is out of sight, and I understand that shrinkage from shoplifting is an increasing problem.
But…
I am shopping more and more at Aldi’s which has great products and consistently low prices. And you don’t need a digital coupon!
