The Giant Bluefin Tuna continue to crush baits and baitfish (like 15-pound bluefish) in the blue water off the Outer Banks. The vast schools of yellowfins are due to arrive any day.
Inshore, the trout and striper bites remain strong. The northern beaches are giving up dogfish (these are good to eat, by the way), skates (not good to eat), blow toads (very, very good to eat) and black drum (edible)
The southern beaches are seeing sizable black drum, puppy drum, and sea mullet. Notably, the Point has been the site of the first citation red drum of the season.

The cold snap slowed down what was already a slow bite for pups and specks. A few are still being caught in the inlets on shallow flats. Some flounder are biting on the Eastern Shore and the togs are getting hungrier each day. Big black drum are easing into the Eastern Shore and the Reds won’t be far behind.
