Angler’s Landing, the marina and bait shop at Lake Orange, is open again for business. Just in time for the crappie and yellow perch bite, Angler’s Landing rents jon boats and sells bait and supplies for one of the most productive lakes in Virginia. Owned and managed by the DWR, Orange gives up trophy bass in addition to channel cats, redear sunfish, walleye, saugeye, bass, crappie, perch, and bream.
The water temperature is now in the mid-50’s and climbing. Crappie are still deep, and the catfish are beginning to stir.
Virginia Saltwater
It’s still a bit early for Virginia saltwater anglers, but the ‘togs are biting now, and speckled trout and puppy drum continue to impress. It seems that action never stopped, and it could get even better in 2024.
OBX
There is decent action in the sound with reports of trout, some nice stripers, and a few puppy drum. Surf fishing continues to produce mostly skates and dogfish, though a few puppy drum are beginning to show up.
