Maybe the best investment we have ever made was when we installed our small goldfish pond in our backyard three years ago. We have since enjoyed countless hours beside our “waterfront” property. Having a retreat like this is a true bonus for a homeowner. And it’s not that difficult to install one.
Last weekend, we made a visit to Springdale Water Gardens in Greenville to pick up a few bullfrog tadpoles and a couple of water plants. Springdale sells everything a pond owner would ever need including water lilies, bog plants, and underwater plants, plus goldfish, koi, tadpoles and snails. They have a huge inventory of pottery of all sizes and colors, simply a great selection. Springdale has pond shells as small as 4’ by 4’ along with liners, pumps, filters, and supplies. They also offer seminars on how to install your own pond and they sell everything you would need to get started. It’s a beautiful drive over and we enjoy each and every visit.
Springdale began growing water lilies in 1988. They have a store with gifts and supplies and several acres of on-site springs and buildings. The address is 340 Old Quarry Lane in Greenville. Call them at (540) 337-4507.
