Capt. Dick Whitehill of Miss Karen’s Fishing says his clients were catching croakers non-stop at Toll’s Point this week. About half the croakers were keepers. Some decent size spot were also biting. Everything caught was on bloodworms.
Capt. Whitehill is also catching lots of rockfish (that season is now in) but they are running small. He’s catching them by casting into shallow water.
The Coastal Rockfish season in Virginia is now underway and continues through June 15. The creel limit is two fish between 20 and 28-inches daily. One of those two fish may be 36-inches or more if you have a Trophy Permit. Capt. Whitehill has that permit for his anglers.
