I am usually not picky about golf balls. As long as they don’t have “XXX” on the sides, I’ll play them. Didn’t really think it made any difference except for the prestige factor.
But last Christmas, my favorite and only son, Jimmie, knew that his Dad was low on golf balls and he gave me a couple dozen Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. They are the finest golf balls I have ever played. Ever.
I am not a big hitter. My swing speed is about as fast as a kid’s homemade go-cart on a decent downhill run. I don’t really understand the intricacies of a golf ball, except I know for a fact that most balls today are designed for the Bubba Watsons of the world, not for us duffers.
The Chrome Soft Balls are low compression, meaning they respond better and go farther when struck by a medium speed driver. I am now hitting it as far as I ever have, even 30 years ago. And they don’t seem to stray as far with a fade or a draw. Plus, they are incredibly tough. Unless I put one in the creek, I can play an entire round and the ball is no worse for wear.
I don’t know how the Chrome Soft would respond to a big hitter, but I imagine the slices and hooks would not be as severe.
If your swing speed is like mine – nothing to brag about – try these Callaway Chrome Soft Balls. They are amazing.
