Nancy wanted seafood on her birthday night while we were vacationing on the Middle Peninsula, and I knew just the place. The Galley in Deltaville. We had reservations and it’s a good thing. They were packed. The Galley is a favorite of the locals who pour into the Deltaville area from Richmond on weekends. The bar was hopping with inside and outside tables.
Nancy ordered the Fried Oysters and I ordered Fried Flounder. Both were very good, but the Fried Flounder was exceptional. The smallish restaurant has an extensive menu with pastas, steaks, and lots of choices, but it’s a seafood restaurant and like they say, “Don’t order a steak from waffle house. Get their waffles.”
Our server was polite and efficient, and we struck up conversations with several other friendly patrons. Deltaville is a very friendly place, and The Galley hits the spot.
By the way, if you choose to dine in, there is a great fresh seafood market, J & W Seafood, that has an excellent selection. We enjoyed the flounder at The Galley so much that we picked some nice filets at J & W, took them home the next night, coated them in House Autry and had another flounder feast.
The Galley is located at 16236 General Puller Hwy, (Rt. 33) and J&W is just down the road at 16552 General Puller Hwy.
There are lots of choices for good food in Deltaville.
