I don’t know if Texas Roadhouse delivers meals to folks at home, but they sure delivered the goods on our last visit. They knocked it out of the park.
It had been a while since Nancy and I ate out, so when she e-mailed and suggested we let someone else do the cooking and cleaning up afterwards, I was in total agreement.
“Let’s go to the Loud Place,” she suggested.
Loud Place is now our description of the Texas Roadhouse. We call it that because it is loud. Really loud. No candlelight music here – it’s more like Rocky Top Tennessee on steroids. It is usually packed with people, and they frequently whoop and holler for birthdays and special occasions. That bothered us at first, but not anymore. With the food they prepare and the competitive prices, we whoop along with everybody else.
We skipped the appetizers, though their Combo Appetizer of Rattlesnake Bites, Fried Pickles and Buffalo Wings is excellent. Rather we went for Steak Dinners. I ordered the best entrée on the menu, Rib Eye Steak with Grilled Shrimp. Served with their Buttered Rolls, it was fantastic, but what we both really enjoyed were the salads.
I think Texas Roadhouse serves the best salads in town. The House Salad is served in chilled bowls with an assortment of crispy greens, hard boiled eggs, fresh chopped tomatoes, cheese, and crispy croutons. Their dressings are made in house and their version of Thousand Island Dressing is superb.
We also like that they offer “Double Cocktails” or Texas Sized wine glasses for just a bit more, keeping the alcohol tab within reason. The service was excellent (we sat at the bar), the prices reasonable and the food was spot on.
With all that, who minds if it is a loud place.
