I had heard about Fiorano, a new restaurant north of Charlottesville. The reviews were very positive. On Father’s Day, Nancy and I ate there and, indeed, the food is very good.
Fiorano is an Italian Restaurant with both a Mediterranean and Indian influence. The flavors are enchanting.
For appetizers were ordered both the Calamari and their Caprese, a blend of Fresh Mozzarella, Roma Tomatoes, Hot Pepper Jam, Basil, a Pesto Sauce and Olive Oil. Yummm! The Calamari was braised with a delicious sauce. For Entrees we went with Twin, 4-Ounce Tenderloin Steaks and their Pan Seared Salmon Gorgonzola, a Pasta dish, which was rich and delicious. The Steaks were served with a wonderful Onion Crisp Sauce on a Bed of Baby Creamer Potatoes. The desserts, Ice Cream with Special Sauces and Italian Cheesecake were scrumptious.
The restaurant is nicely appointed inside and offers Al Fresco dining as well. Fiorano is located in the small shopping center along with Dunkin’ Donuts and the Holiday Inn Express. It’s tucked away in the site where Barnaby’s and Coppersmith’s both had restaurants and failed. I hope this one does not fail because I believe we need another good, Italian-influenced restaurant and this fits the bill. Give it a try. The food is excellent.
The address says 5924 Seminole Trail in Barboursville, but it’s actually located on Rt. 29 about halfway between Forest Lakes and Ruckersville. Call them at 434-328-8161 for reservations or go to FioranoMediterranean.com
