It’s never really Christmas until the Charlottesville Municipal Band stages its annual Christmas Concert complete with beautiful Christmas music, sing-along carols, and – I don’t know how they do this – but it actually snows inside the auditorium!
After all that, it’s time for Christmas.
Band Director Steve Layman announced that the 2016 Christmas Concert will be held on Sunday December 11. That gives us all a full two weeks to prepare before Santa squeezes down our chimneys.
The concert will be held at the Martin Luther King Center at Charlottesville High School. Admission is free, of course, but the band asks that each family bring something in the way of non-perishable goods to benefit the Emergency Food Bank.
The concert will feature a special guest performance by members of the Oratorio Society of Virginia. Now in their 94th season, the Charlottesville Municipal Band welcomes one and all and wishes the community all the best for this holiday season.
