(Ed: Note: My computer had a bad hair day last week and wouldn’t connect to CvilleBuzz, so it didn’t go out. Here’s hoping it makes it to your in-box this week. Thx Jim)
Well, I mowed my onions last week. Not grass, onions. I may have my best crop ever. My yard grows onions so well that I am thinking of turning it into a wild onion farm. I understand there are certain tax advantages for property designated as Agricultural Use.
I know Albemarle County will be delighted to learn of my application for rezoning since they just raised the real estate tax to: “Hey, just send us all your money and we’ll send you back the balance if there is any leftover.”
“Our schools need more money, you know. If Harvard can get $80,000 a kid, why shouldn’t we? And our teachers are super stressed. They no longer can vacation in Hawaii and do on-line classes – assuming it doesn’t call for snow. Poor things!”
But with my property zoned Agriculture, I’ll send ‘em a couple twenty-dollar bills and they can use it however they’d like. In fact, I think I’ll put a Farm Use license tag on my Jeep. The DMV will certainly understand.
Yes, wild onions have their benefits.
