I was having a conversation the other day with someone who said that they must have Mexican squirrels because they were eating bird seeds which had pepper on them. I noted that they weren’t using the right kind of pepper repellant. There is one that absolutely works – Cole’s Flaming Squirrel Seed Sauce. This is some kind of hot sauce! But it’s all natural with no chemical additives. It’s the hottest formula of food grade chili concentrate available. You must stand back when you unscrew the lid. It makes habanero peppers taste like marshmallows. It is flaming hot.
Amazingly, birds really love it.
I have been mixing my own bird seed recently to attract all kinds of birds. I mix ½ sunflower hearts with ½ premium bird seed (no filler) and it attracts every bird in my yard. Add just 2 tablespoons of Cole’s in 2 quarts of seed mix and the squirrels won’t even think about nosing around my feeders. Rather, I scatter a few corn kernels and other seeds in the back for them.
Note that this is bear season. The bruins have emerged from their lairs and are on the prowl for food. They are particularly attracted to backyard birdfeeders and routinely destroy expensive feeders. But if you put a couple tablespoons of Cole’s in your feeder, no bear alive will come close. Bears’ noses are 50 times more sensitive than that of a bloodhound. Cole’s will ignite a bear’s nostrils. They will not touch anything with that hot sauce on or near it.
Cole’s is not cheap. It costs about $21, but a bottle lasts several months, and $21 is a lot less than an Audubon-approved bird feeder.
Do yourself a favor. Order a bottle of Cole’s Flaming Squirrel Seed Sauce from Amazon and mix it with your bird seed. I promise, you’ll never have to worry about squirrels – or bears – ever again.
