A neighbor came by recently, knowing that I am somewhat of a bird freak, asking if I wanted his bird feeder and explained why. He said he had posted the feeder near his kitchen window so he could take pictures of his visitors. Then he said that between the birds and the squirrels, the waste beneath the feeder was destroying his grass and yard.
There is a simple answer, I explained. Cole’s Flaming Hot Squirrel Sauce and the Patio Mix of bird seed. If you add a couple tablespoons of Cole’s (there is another hot sauce on the market, but I haven’t tried it yet) to a couple quarts of Patio Mix bird seed, there will be no squirrels and no waste. The Patio Mix contains seeds without husks, nuts, and fruits, so there is no debris remaining. Every type of bird in Central Virginia can enjoy this mix, but the squirrels won’t. This stuff is blazing hot, and I promise no squirrel alive will mess with your feeders.
I gave my neighbor the remainder of a bottle of Cole’s, he switched seed and his problem has been solved.
