Hostas are hardy perennials that require almost no special attention and are perfect for a garden that doesn’t get too much sun. Reliable and easy to grow, hostas are long-lived—and may even outlive the gardener.
Except.
Hostas are a favorite target of deer and rabbits, and with all the deer around, hostas very seldom get the opportunity to bloom. They get eaten, first.
But not our hostas. Deer are fenced out of our yard and our hostas are flourishing and are now in full bloom.
Hostas come in many sizes, heights and textures and colors. They grow between 1 and 3 feet and fit most anywhere. They can grow in shade, and they can resist extreme cold temperatures.
Their only problem is the deer population, and that, in Virginia, is a real problem.
