My tomato crop has already exceeded last year’s bust, and I have been getting a slow and steady supply, but nothing special. The best thing is that so far (knock on wood) none of my ‘maters have had blemishes or end rot, and so far, no critters have attacked my innocent tomatoes the day before I would pick them.
Last year I bought a gizmo that makes a clicking noise, activated by movement. It said it would keep rodents (chipmunks) away because they didn’t like the sound of some predator that might be licking it’s chops for chipmunk burgers. I think it’s working.
But I have heard from other back yard gardeners that their tomatoes are coming in slower than in past years. I think they are right. I still have lots of blooms on my plants and hopefully more tomatoes into the late summer.
Gardening is certainly not a sure thing. Like Forrest Gump says about the box of chocolates, “You never know what you’re going to get.”
