When you have a truly special occasion, there is no finer place to celebrate than Charlottesville’s Ivy Inn. For a recent anniversary, Nancy and I never even considered another restaurant. We made reservations at The Ivy Inn.
I won’t list all the delectable things we ate because at the Ivy Inn, it doesn’t really matter what you order. Everything you put in your mouth will be extraordinary.
And the service? From the moment you arrive, you are royalty. The hostess is excited to see you; the bartender welcomes you in and your waiter treats you as though you are the only thing that matters. Combine that with a timeless ambience, spectacular food and drink, and it’s easy to see why the Ivy In stands out as Charlottesville’s finest.
With local owners for over 30 years, the Ivy Inn Restaurant is at right at home in a 200-year-old house. What used to be three bedrooms and a living room are now four individual dining rooms. The main dining room is located on the ground floor, while three additional dining rooms are upstairs. In addition to the indoor dining rooms, there is a large, tented garden patio off the main dining room. No matter where you sit, it’s a charming venue.
Though I won’t mention what we ordered, if you go and there is Pan-seared Rockfish on the menu, that would be a great choice, unless of course you enjoy a mouth-watering, cut-with-a-butter-knife tender Beef Filet smothered in a rich wine sauce.
Just saying.
