Butter beef? Really? Sounds good, doesn’t it. It is good, it’s fairly economical, and it’s easy.
I saw the recipe recently and I had to try it – with my variations, of course.
The recipe called for stew beef, but you never know what you’re getting with stew beef, and it’s really not that inexpensive. I rooted around and found a couple top round steaks – a bit over a pound total, perfect for the two of us.
Put the steak, or steaks, or stew beef, in the bottom of a lined slow cooker. Add salt, pepper, a dash of garlic salt and drizzle a stick of melted butter on top. Next add a half package (more if you’re cooking more beef) of Lipton Onion Soup Mix. You can put soup mix on a cardboard box and it turns out well. Finally, add a package of sliced Baby Bella mushrooms across the top, turn the cooker on high and in 5 hours, you’re eating Butter Beef, with mashed potatoes, of course. Rich, tender, yummy – perfect for an easy evening entrée.
