Big rockfish continued to hit the scales all the way through the season ending on Dec. 31. One big female topped 65 pounds. In Virginia, big stripers are moving in from the ocean as the season draws to a close on New Year’s Day. Fish to 60 pounds are going for live feels. Fishing has been excellent at Anna with schools of shad roaming the lake. Finding the shad will almost guarantee fish. Medium to jumbo minnows and swimbaits are working best for stripers and larger bass. Smaller fish are taking small minnows, small plastic grubs and small Hopkins jigging spoons.
