June 25, 2015 by Jim Brewer

The Aberdeen Barn is a Charlottesville institution. Businessmen know that when it’s time to seal the deal, there is no … [Read more...]

Oh great, a Sunday and an endless flow of hot water. This was going to cost me, if, that is, I could even get a plumber to come out and fix the problem. First, I tried my hand at plumbing repair, which is … [Read more...]

May 29, 2015 by Jim Brewer

Capt. Dick Whitehill of Miss Karen’s Fishing says his clients were catching croakers non-stop at Toll’s Point this week. About half the croakers were keepers. Some decent size spot were also biting. Everything caught was on bloodworms. Capt. Whitehill is also catching lots of rockfish (that season is now in) but they are running small. He’s catching them by casting into shallow water. The … [Read more...]

Fishy Business

May 21, 2015 by Jim Brewer

Capt. Dick Whitehill of Miss Karen’s Fishing says the croaker bite is on and nice croakers at that! Last year, the “hard heads” were plentiful, but on the smallish side. Looks like the big boys have returned in force to the Rappahannock River and they are hungry. Capt. Whitehill is also catching lots of rockfish (that season is now in) but they are running small. He’s catching them by casting … [Read more...]
