The South River Fly Shop reports that the South River in Waynesboro has been fishing well for the past two weeks with some great Smoky Sedge Caddis hatches in the late mornings. Size 16 Black Elk Hair Caddis and variations have been working on active fish. The hatch intensity varies from day to day, but should continue for another week or more. Water levels have improved slightly with the recent snow and rains. A few Grannom Caddis are starting to show up. The major hatch should start by the first of April. Recent stockings – plus numerous holdovers – have the stream full of nice fish
Note that the South River Fly Fishing Expo on April 21st and 22nd will be featuring Pat Cohen, Matt Miles, L.E. Rhodes, Tony Dranzo, Bob Romano, Chris Seiss, Matthew Reilly, Kevin Whitfield, Tommy Lawhorne, Brian Ailles and plenty more. All proceeds will go to funding better fishing on the South River.
