I finished sowing my early garden just in time for a predicted rain. Unfortunately, it rained about as much as a fat guy sweating at the gym, meaning my seeds didn’t get much water and were late sprouting. They need moisture, you know. But everything is finally beginning to peek out of the ground and head in the direction of the sunshine. Peas, potatoes, lettuce, spring onions and collards.
I’m sure they’ll get plenty of sun in the coming months, it’s the rain I worry about.
Nancy has an above the ground garden and she waters regularly. If not, her plants would die in a matter of days because of the extra heat and dryness. I usually don’t water, hoping that Mother Nature will do her job. This year, though, I will water if necessary.
I have beautifully tilled garden with lots of organic matter, nitrogen, and soil additives and if it needs a little hose water to pull through, it’ll get it.
Later this month, I’ll plant cukes, squash, okra, and tomatoes. Maybe by that time, we’ll be getting plenty of rain.
