It was Nancy’s birthday and I wanted to give her something special. She enjoys (really and truly) canning and I have given canning paraphernalia in the past. I even gave her an apron with her nickname,“Pepperella”, on it since she loves to can peppers. I scanned Amazon for canning gift ideas and saw an electric canner. I didn’t know such things existed, but I rolled the dice and ordered one. She now says it was one of the best birthday gifts she has ever received.
Nancy says that her canner, made by Ball, makes the entire process much easier and takes a lot of the guesswork out of canning jellies and vegetables. So far, she has put up about 30 pints of pickles from just 4 or 5 vines.
The product is substantial and weighs about 20 pop\unds. It’s safe and easy to use with automated preheating. It eliminates wasted time in “watching the pot boil.”
Nancy says it heats far faster than here old giant pot of water on the stove top. Sensors maintain constant temperatures for consistent results. It holds up to 8 pint jars or 7 quart jars. One of the most convenient factors is an easy-to-drain spigot that allows you to pour off the water to reuse on plants or birdbaths. It’s stainless steel and easy to clean.
Next up, peppers and tomatoes. The Ball Electric Canner is a great product.
