Speckled trout fishing has been outstanding inside Lynnhaven Inlet for several weeks. Long Bay Pointe Bait and Tackle has weighed in specks up to 7-pounds and registered citation fish measuring up to 27-inches. Most fish have been caught jigging or on Mirr-o-lures. Outer Banks
Capt. Reese Stecher was back in action on Tuesday of this week and found stripers at the Oregon Inlet Bridge right off the bat. “We picked at them at the bridge, first thing. Then we picked up a couple more around the corner at the honey hole. All were just short except for one keeper. We then voted and made the decision to make the wide loop into the Albemarle Sound. Thirty minutes later, the wide loop was not going so well. We went back to the bridge, but took a different path back and a beautiful thing happened. Bob spotted them. Da Birds! Mary took care of business from there. We caught them good until it stated raining and they disappeared. Wish we had taken the go home loop on the way. Will do that next time. Anyway, the fish are there. You cannot catch them if you don’t go.” Contact Reese Stecher at www.beachbumfishing.com
Elsewhere on the Outer Banks, some nice mullet were caught along the Nags Head beaches, plus a few trout and bluefish. The Buxton area had an excellent red drum blitz. Lots of big reds were beached.
