Surf Fishing: Wednesday day was another good day for surf fishing anglers. Keeper Black Drum and Trout, some Bluefish, Sea Mullet and small Puppies. I was told there are plenty of Trout in the surf this morning with some keepers. Amy (picture) caught her trout this morning. Jeff VanZile caught his first Red Drum at the point. He said he has been chasing trophy Drum for about 8 years. He caught a 46-incher and 40-incher using chunks of bluefish for bait. Got that monkey off his back!
The winds are SSE at 7 and the water is 55 degrees. Ocean is flat, no wind, cloudy, showers after lunch.
Sound Fishing: The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported some Stripers
Pier Fishing: Avalon: Small Trout.
Nags Head: Small Trout.
Jennette’s: Sheepshead, Black Drum, small Trout, Puffers and Bluefish.
Outer Banks: Lots of Puppies, Sea Mullet and Trout.
Inshore Boats/near shore: Inshore boaters had good Striper fishing.
Offshore: The charters finally made it out Wednesday and it was a good day. They filled their boxes with limits of Yellowfin, a few Blackfin and some Wahoo.
Hatteras Surf
Red Drum reports:
On Tuesday, it was all the Blue Fish you wanted on bait and metal at the Point. Black Drum were up and down the beach. Melvin Belter caught and released his first citation drum tonight 42 inches. Madiline Elliott caught and released a 41-inch Drum tonight. There has been plenty more caught and released – around 30 fish.
On Wednesday, we had a beautiful day. Everyone fishing with jigs and grubs and did very well with the Puppy Drum and there were some nice keeper Speckle trout. Lots of Bluefish were caught at the Point on bait and metal. Shane Langway – 8 years old – caught a 26-inch Puppy Drum today with the support of his 4-year old sister, Callie.
Hatteras Offshore
Tuesday, no boats fished. On Monday, the weather was cold and windy today with no boats running offshore. One boat fished Inshore. They caught some keeper Red Drum with a few releases.
