Mark your calendars for the first couple weeks in April 2026. That’s when Holland comes to Virginia.
A few weeks back, Nancy said she had a “spring surprise” for me. We hopped in the car and headed for Nokesville, VA.
Nokesville? What could possibly be in Nokesville, I wondered?
A world of stunning tulips, that’s what.
We made a visit to Burnside Farms, which plants 2 million tulip bulbs each year, and around the first of April they spring from the earth in all their glory. Burnside has over 150 varieties and about 100 different colors. Guests at the farm are allowed to roam the fields and take home five tulips per ticket – more if they pay a little extra. We enjoyed the wagon ride to the tulip fields and visited the several Food Trucks on the premises where I enjoyed a tall glass of homemade lemonade for the first time in years and a platter of Catfish Nuggets. Yummm!
The farm opens to visitors when their 30 varieties of daffodils begin to bloom, followed by the tulip bloom.
The spring season lasts about three weeks. Go to Burnsidefarms.com to check the dates. It is a spring event well worth attending.
