Apparently, the puppy drum on the Outer Banks are not impressed nor discouraged by cold weather. The pups are biting down at Nags Head.
TW’s Tackle says surf anglers and those tossing baits from Jennette’s Pier and catching fish of all sizes. A few speckled trout have also been reported.

Offshore, one boat landed a 110-inch bluefin weighing over 900 pounds. That’s a lot of tuna sandwiches.
In Virginia, the black seabass is underway, and anglers are catching nice fish when the boats can sail. Tautogs are snuggling next to lower Bay structures and are biting when they see a bait. Some big rockfish are still roaming the lower bay waters.
Freshwater
There is lots and lots of water in Virginia rivers making difficult fishing conditions, but the yellow perch run is officially underway. Anglers, Nathan Kendrick, and Ben Kendrick, of Hanover, visited the Rappahannock last week and returned with some trophy sized perch. The Chickahominy is also an early season hotspot for perch, along with the Potomac, Mattaponi and Pamunkey.
