Next time you’re thinking about picking up a phone to order a pizza, try this instead. Make a batch of Pizza Pasta. It’s easy, it’s fun, and everybody will love it – especially kids.
It’s so simple, I hesitate to use it in my recipe repertoire, but sometimes just reminding is helpful. You can use anything for the pasta, but something unusual, like rotini, makes it more fun and it holds the sauce well.
Boil and drain 1 package of the rotini and brown 1 pound of mild Italian Sausage. When done, pour off any excess grease (there won’t be much) and add 1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce – marinara works. Simmer for a bit, then pour the sausage/sauce mixture in a 10 x 13 pan. Sprinkle on 1 T Italian seasoning, then spread 2 cups of grated Italian blend cheese on top and then garnish with pepperoni. Bake in a 350 oven for about 20 minutes and dig in.
