Recently, I whipped up a nice batch of tuna salad. After I let it settle in the fridge for a couple hours, I piled it high on a couple slices of bread and bit into my delicious tuna salad sandwich. Only problem was that when I took a bite from one side of the sandwich, half the tuna salad squirted out on the other side since there was nothing preventing the inevitable escape.
My next tuna salad sandwich was prepared with a much more efficient ingredient – a hot dog bun.
Hot dog buns have about 110 calories while two slices of bread total 180 or more, so a hot dog bun is more diet friendly and you can get just as much tuna salad – or egg salad or barbeque – on a hot dog bun as you can on bread slices and it stays there.
Actually, a hot dog bun can hold anything that bread slices can – including sliced turkey or ham or even bacon. lettuce and tomatoes. Next time you make a sandwich, substitute a hot dog bun. It might just mean the end of sliced bread.
