Sometimes, on a cold winter night, a big bowl of hot potato soup just hits the spot. You know, nice and chunky, rich and creamy. On occasion, I’ll make a batch, Nancy loves it and it’s not terribly hard to put together, but it does involve peeling potatoes, chopping and sautéing onions, stirring in cream, etc.
Last week, strolling through Food Lion, I saw a display of Idahoan Hearty Soups that caught my eye because I have recently been buying instant potatoes from Idahoan that I believe are as good as homemade mashed potatoes. They are really good, so I decided to buy a package of Creamy Potato and give it a try.
It takes all of 3 or 4 minutes to boil 4 cups of water and another 5 minutes to simmer and it’s good to go. And it’s really good. If you ordered a bowl of this at a swanky restaurant, you’d leave a nice tip.
Idahoan currently makes Creamy Potato, Loaded Potato, Cheddar Potato and a few others. A 7-1 oz. package costs about $2.99 and makes 4 small bowls, or 2 large servings. What a deal!
If you enjoy a hearty potato soup and don’t want the hassle, pick up a package of Idahoan Hearty Soup next time you shop.
