I frequently buy country ham, not whole hams, but biscuit slices and center-cut packs. Usually, the ham is good, but sometimes it can be tough and lack flavor. There is one brand name of ham, however, that is always good. It is Hobe’s Ham. Simply the best.
I first ran across Hobe’s hams. at a Food Lion in Mooresville, NC. It was so good, I made a mental note of the name, and whenever I see it, I buy it.
Hobe’s is a Southern thing, based out of N. Wilkesboro, NC
and found only in retail outlets in the south – Tennessee, West Virginia, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia.
For 50
years, Hobert (Hobe) Gambill has been curing hams. His hams are salt cured and
aged for over 90 days. Each ham is individually inspected before it is shipped.
The quality is inherent.
So, if you have a craving that only country ham will cure, look for Hobe’s Country Ham at your local retailer or anywhere country ham is served. For handcrafted country ham that is good every time you fry up a slice or tow, it’s Hobe’s County Hams.
