I first saw them at a VRBO cottage in Cape Charles. They were extra-large ice cubes in a rubber-like tray. It only took one to chill my cocktail. It was perfect and I vowed to get some of my own, then forgot about them. But my daughter and son-in-law who were with us on the trip remembered and gave me a set for Christmas. I use them every night.
With extra-large cubes, the ice doesn’t melt as quickly and water down your drink. I like a little Ginger Ale in my bourbon, but for those who like theirs on the rocks or with a splash of water, the extra-large cubes are ideal.
A bunch of people make them, but mine are from a company called W&P. They have silicone-wrapped interior rim fames to provide strength, yet the cubes pop right out. They are 2 ½ inch cubes that snuggle perfectly in a highball glass. The trays come with tops, allowing for easy stacking.
I like them so much, I’ll likely take them with me on trips as we travel.
A great idea, a great product.
