I have always liked Evan Williams Bourbon. I think it is among the best of the bottom shelf bourbons. A couple months back, I was trying to decide whether to pick up one of the lower priced bourbons that I enjoy (Ancient Age, Virginia Gentleman, Evan Williams, etc.) or splurge and go for Makers Mark, Bulleit, Woodford or maybe Buffalo Trace.
I saw that Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch was on sale, around $32, so I picked up a bottle. It is now my go-to bourbon and I believe it is every bit as good as the top shelf bourbons.
Those who know say that it has an oaky, vanilla, sauteed butter and sweet corn fragrance. I know that it has a brilliant honey color and I find that it is semi-sweet, smooth and has a stout oak taste.
From Heaven Hill Distillery, Evan Williams 1783 honors the year that they founded Kentucky’s First Distillery. It is a blueblood among Kentucky bourbons, pulled from fewer than 200 barrels. Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch won the 2019 Consumers’ 2019 SIP Award.
If you are a bourbon aficionado, do yourself a favor and try a bottle of Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch bourbon, one of the absolute best values for the money in all the Kentucky Bourbons.
