I was in Wal-Mart not long ago and looked for a fish scaler and they didn’t have any. Fortunately, I found an extra one tucked away in my tackle box and used it.
Last week, we were headed for the Bay and again I couldn’t find my old scaler, so I checked with Amazon, and they said I could get one to me the next day and I ordered a product from Esteopt. This is a restaurant-grade, stainless steel piece of equipment with a serrated blade design and it took the scales off our flounder, whiting and grey trout as if they were not there. It was quick and efficient. I’ve been cleaning and scaling fish for a long time, and this is the absolutely finest scaler I have ever used. It’s razor sharp, but has a safe design to protect from cuts.
It is corrosion resistant, dishwasher safe and has a convenient hole design making it easy to store and find. It was less than $10 and it’s a quality instrument. If you clean your own fish, get one.
