ARE YOU IN PAIN? HOW CAN EGOSCUE HELP?
Cindy Meyers along with Mackie Boblette at Pain Free Performance in Charlottesville are in the business of alleviating pain by identifying the root cause of the pain and utilizing a method called Egoscue. And it works! But how? What exactly is Egoscue?
Cindy notes that one of her biggest challenges is to explain to people what it is she does and how the Egoscue method differs from other therapies.
“Here is something to think about,” Cindy states. “Where you hurt is not always why you hurt. Traditional therapies focus on the exact point of musculoskeletal pain. Sometimes that approach works…for a while. But then often the pain returns. For many, this is the beginning of a vicious cycle. It’s hard not to continue the cycle because we have responsibilities, jobs, lives and we need some relief, even if it’s temporary. Because we’re in pain, we stop doing the things we love, stop moving for fear we will hurt more until we are just tip toeing through our lives.”
“At Pain Free Performance the focus is on you – all of you – not just where you hurt,” Cindy continued. “We listen to your story, we understand the overwhelming frustration of chronic pain. We evaluate your entire body, determine postural compensations and work to guide you back to the body’s optimal alignment and function. We get to the root cause of your pain in order to uncover the instigator and remove it, rather than mask the symptom. Where you hurt is not why you hurt. We have to discover the “why” and treat that so the pain doesn’t return over and over. The Egoscue method just makes perfect sense.”
Pain Free Performance actually taps into the body’s innate ability to heal. The body is designed to line up at 90 degree angles. From the side the body should reveal a vertical line running through the ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. The front and back views should show horizontal lines running through the middle of the shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. All joints should line up.
When there is an injury to the body or after years of poor posture, deviations from that original design can occur. Some muscles stop doing what they are supposed to, others do too much and begin to pull bones out of that 90 degree design – all without you knowing. That is, until the wear and tear on joints occurs and then the real pain begins.
“We know how to get to the cause of the pain you are feeling,” Cindy sates. “We can unravel the layers of injuries or misuse and get the muscles working correctly, pulling the bones correctly and getting you back to the original design. The result? Your body is aligned; you are out of pain and back to living your life!”
Pain Free Performance Postural Alignment Specialists are Virginia’s most experienced Egoscue University trained therapists with backgrounds and training in physical rehabilitation and movement beyond this certification.
“We opened our doors more than 10 years ago, but our expertise in understanding the human body and relieving pain goes back 20 years,” Cindy confirmed. “Whatever your diagnosis or your pain level or even previous surgeries, we can help.”
