Many salons price their facial appointments by the clock – maybe 30 minutes, maybe 45, maybe an hour. Kathryn Yates at Faces by Kathryn is less interested in what time it is than how her clients look.
“I give my clients a full hour,” she said. “Everyone deserves to benefit from a quality facial.”
And whereas many salons may charge up to $148 for an hour facial, Kathryn’s fee is $65.
Kathryn deeply cleanses each face to exfoliate the skin and lift dead skin from the face. She doesn’t use a machine or chemicals, rather she uses her sensitive hands so she can feel the face and any imperfections in the skin.
“An esthetician can feel the bumps and rough places and remove them,” she noted. “This way I can see how the skin responds. All my facials are customized for that personal touch.”
Kathryn is one of but a very few Master Estheticians in the area. To attain this level of achievement requires the experience of having done 2,500 make-up applications and 1,500 facials.
“That represents a lot of hours,” Kathryn stated.
Kathryn was trained as a Certified Esthetician and as a Certified Make-Up Artist in Los Angeles. Her esthetic work includes Photo Rejuvenation, using cold lasers for wrinkled and sun-damaged skin, and Chemical Peel, a process using glycolic acid to rejuvenate skin. She also is experienced in Micro Dermabrasion, which removes small and out of line blemishes of living cells from the surface of the face. Kathryn does facials, hair removal electrolysis and sugaring.
For 17 years, Kathryn operated the Merle Norman Studio in the Riverside Center She decided to give up the retail part of her business and concentrate on esthetic consultations and moved in with Style I, a Hair Design and Day Spa at Berkmar Circle.
“This is a wonderful atmosphere,” Kathryn said of her new location within the Style I facility. “The people here are so friendly and welcoming and the shop is clean, bright and open. They are extremely talented Professionals that I am proud to work with.”
“Before I moved here, I did a diligent search,” she added. “I wanted to offer my clients the best of everything in hair styling, nails, massage and facials and I found it here at Style I.”
“I do make-up for special occasions, such as weddings, and I do skin care consultations,” Kathryn said. “The fun part is in the variety of all that I do. My goal is to make a face the very best it can be.”
