Not many choose a restaurant because of their salads and salad dressings, but it doesn’t hurt. Many restaurants have tolerable salads – something to make way for the entrée. But not Texas Roadhouse. Nancy and I find their salads to be – not just good – but outstanding.
Texas Roadhouse make their salad dressings in house, from scratch, as do many restaurants. But their dressings are so good that Nancy and I bought an extra pint each of Thousand Island and Blue Cheese dressing just to take home. The chain also makes their own Caesar, Honey Mustard, Italian, and Ranch dressings, but the two above are simply delicious.
I usually order their Honey Mustard dressing but decided to go with the Thousand Island this time and it was the best version I have ever had and what I will order from now on.
The salads themselves aren’t all that unusual. They don’t, for example, offer Lebanese Cumquats or Argentinian Pine Nuts – just the basic stuff – crisp iceberg lettuce, grated hard boiled eggs, a few slivers of fresh carrots, a slice of two of onions, some cherry tomatoes and croutons, and a sprinkle of cheese. But the salads come in chilled bowls and the combinations are deliciously refreshing.
Consistently fresh and delicious salads are one of the many reasons we have chosen Texas Roadhouse as our go-to restaurant.
