A busy afternoon schedule sent Nancy and me out to eat on Monday evening. She suggested “The Loud Place” (Texas Roadhouse) and I agreed. I was thinking about one of their burgers. I had one on my first visit there and it was very good.
But when I scanned the menu, I saw Fried Catfish. Somehow that sounded right, so I ordered it.
Fried Catfish is either really good or really bad. It must be fried perfectly. Texas Roadhouse knows how to cook catfish. The platter was very good, served hot and crunchy – plus, they make their own Creole Mustard Sauce, especially for the catfish entrée.
It was scrumptious. I had some steak fries as a side and they were delightful. The green beans were awful.
Nancy was in the mood for a small steak and ordered the 10-ounce ribeye. It was perfect, cooked just as she likes.
After 4 visits to the Texas Roadhouse, I can make these suggestions. If you want a steak, always get the Ribeye. They offer it in 4 sizes from small to huge. It is a great cut of meat and they cook it to order. Don’t get the standing rib, it’s not a great cut. Their Fried Shrimp is delicious and, as I mentioned, the Fried Catfish is especially good. They offer either a three or four-piece catfish plate. Three is plenty. The filets are nice and large.
Actually, our “Loud Place” was sort of quiet on Monday evening. I suppose the patrons were recovering from an amazing Super Bowl Game the night before.
The more we come here, the more we like it. I especially appreciate that they don’t gouge on wine or cocktail prices. My Catfish Platter, by the way, was just $11.99. Their prices are very fair.
Keep the “Loud Place” in mind for your next evening out.
