Boy, I wish we had a Royal Farms here in Charlottesville – not only for inexpensive gasoline, but also for some really delicious Fried Chicken. We first came upon a Royal Farms Gasoline/Convenience Store on the Eastern Shore, not far from Cape Charles. I bought some gas at a great price and went inside for a coke and smelled their chicken frying – and I ordered some and it was spectacular.
Last weekend, we passed by a Royal Farms in Lynchburg and made it a point to stop in. The store was spiffy clean, the personnel extremely friendly and welcoming. I also noticed that their gasoline was 30c a gallon cheaper than a Sheetz station just 5 miles away. Sheetz and Wa-Wa usually equal the going price of gas in the area, but Royal Farms far undercuts the competition.
Royal Farms is headquartered in Baltimore and now has over 200 stores throughout Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. Their big draws are their in-house Fried Chicken, Chicken Sandwich, French Fries and other in-house made foods.
By the way, the cost of a bucket of Fried Chicken was $13, far less than the regular price of KFC. And it’s better.
If you drive by a Royal Farms station, stop in, fill up and eat some great chicken.
