Went to the Outback for dinner last week. Hadn’t been in a while, but Nancy loves their pasta dishes, and I was hoping for some Bang-Bang Fried Chicken. Unfortunately, they no longer offer the Bang-Bang Chicken, but our dinner was very good, almost perfect. Almost.
Our server was excellent, got us our water and drinks early and checked on us frequently, even though we were eating outside – which we always enjoy.
The drinks were generous and the Cabernet wine was perfect. The fresh-out-of-the-oven brown bread and creamy butter they brought as an appetizer went quickly. The large salads were above and beyond – better, I thought, that Texas Roadhouse. The lettuce and all the veggies were cold and crisp, and I loved the red onion slices they added. Nancy had the Queensland Chicken and Grilled Shrimp Pasta dish, which she devoured, while I went with the Prime Rib and Loaded Baked Potato. The potato was out of sight good, but the Prime Rib missed the mark. It was almost too tough to chew and over-cooked. I should have known better. Never order Prime Rib from any restaurant other than a top steak restaurant, like the Aberdeen Barn. I have tried the Prime Rib at Texas Roadhouse and it’s the same. They use a cheaper cut of meat with zero marbling and it’s tasteless and tough. Save your Prime Rib orders for top notch restaurants.
Otherwise, my dinner was delicious – almost perfect.
