I like Kentucky Fried Chicken – the original recipe, but I don’t particularly care for their Charlottesville restaurant on Emmet Street. My last three experiences have not gone well. The first snafu was about a year ago. It was a Sunday night, I pulled up to the window, and they said they were out of chicken. Really. A chicken restaurant that was out of chicken. I left in amazement and went to Bojangles – which had plenty of Fried Chicken. Bad experience #2 was when I tried to order a bucket of dark meat only chicken. In the past, KFC sold those buckets for less. This time they charged me more than for a regular order of chicken, and I didn’t return until last Sunday.
We were home after a long out of town trip and I decided to give the Colonel one more try.
I drove up to the window, and they said they were not taking window orders, so I had to go inside. I figured they weren’t taking those orders because they were short on staff and I think I was right. I only saw three employees when I went in, there was a small line waiting to order but no one was taking orders.
I left and tried Zaxby’s just down the street, but they don’t have “Fried Chicken”. They have wings and tenders, so I headed for the one chicken establishment that I knew would have good Fried Chicken – Bojangles. They filled my order for dark meat only chicken plus all he fixin’s in less than two minutes and sent me on my way to a delightful dinner. It will be quite a while before I ever go back to the Emmet Street KFC. The way I see it, it’s three strikes and y’er out.
