Last Sunday, it was order-out night. Chinese sounded good, but our go-to place for home delivery, Chopsticks, closes on Sunday. There is another Asian restaurant not far from us, Taste of China, and we decided to go there and try it. Inside, it didn’t look like a normal Chinese restaurant and the menu was strange – no typical appetizers like Wonton Soup and Fried Wings and Shrimp, so we left. A few doors down, we passed by Deen’s Bistro. They offered only Fried Chicken and Burgers, but what the heck, we were hungry and decided to give them a shot.
Deen’s Bistro is obviously a takeout establishment with just a half dozen inside tables. Numerous customers came and went as they picked up their call-in orders while we waited the allotted 20 minutes inside for the chefs to fry my chicken. Nancy had ordered a Double Cheeseburger and Onion Rings.
The chicken came piping hot, and it was good, but not great. For Fried Chicken only, I would prefer KFC or Bojangles. But the chicken was okay. I ate three pieces and my French Fries were well cooked. Nancy’s Double Cheeseburger was a monster and would give a Five Guys burger a run for its money. I had a bite and it was delicious, as good as a burger as you can get in Charlottesville. Her Onion Rings were also excellent.
Deen’s Bistro is located 622 Albemarle Square near ACAC. I highly recommend them for a takeout order for Burgers, Fries and Onion Rings. Call ahead at 434-202-2381.
